CEVA’s School Support Program

National Curriculum Framework (NCF), 2005 has made several recommendations on reduction of physical, psychological and transactional load on school children. The focus is on making education less stressful for both students and teachers.
The suggestions of the framework, that students should be able to "connect knowledge to life outside school" and "ensure that learning is shifted away from rote methods" and recommendations that “teachers should encourage children not just to answer questions but also to frame questions themselves”, and "plan lessons so that children are challenged to think and not simply repeat what is told to them." are being seriously implemented by the CBSE, the apex body governing school curriculum in the country
The trends for future economic growth mean that young adults would need the skills and abilities to learn and unlearn, to socialise and be creative and to communicate quite powerfully. The challenges that young people are facing today impel those in the business of education to see that systems and processes are constantly improved for the better.
CEVA (Centre for Education and Voluntary Action), Chandigarh, together with some other organizations, has initiated a ‘School Support Project’ in the tricity, to work within schools. The School Support Program started in 2008.
