The Maths Program at The British School (TBS), Panchkula



The trajectory:
Addressing gaps in conceptual understanding in math: The maths  program at TBS was initiated with some sessions with the students during 2011. An initial 6 full days workshop with the Math teachers happened in May, 2012, in which they addressed their own fears and gaps in understanding together with lots of ideas for activities and games for teaching an activity based math classroom. All the classes from Grade III to VII in turn had time-out from their regular daily time schedule so that they could participate in specially designed hands-on learning experiences to address any gaps that they had in their understanding of number concepts.
After which it is back to usual once a day math period wherein the teachers introduced interactive activities and processes to teach math concepts.
We are now looking forward to the next level teacher’s training workshop.
